You’ve blasted the kids off to school!
You’ve fed them. Clothed them.
Maybe you’ve homeschooled them.
However you did it, you are the real MVP!
If you’ve ever pushed through or felt even a tinge of overwhelm (or resentment) for all that you do, then this blog post is especially for you!
Back to school can feel like a race to the finish line, only it’s the STARTING line. Don’t worry Mommy, I’ve got you!
Here are 8 Back-To-School Survival Tips for Mom
1. Start your day in prayer.
Your woman prayers, Mommy prayers, Wifey prayers, gratitude prayers, the troubles of your heart prayers. ALL. THE. PRAYERS. I like to begin my prayer time with a devotional or a scripture from the Bible app. Pray however it feels best to you, in your mind, aloud, a combination.
This is my favorite devotional.
2. Treat yourself before the end of September
Before you plan another thing, make sure you find a way to treat yourself before the end of September. What will you do to celebrate this huge accomplishment of getting the children set for school?
Take yourself out to lunch. Buy a new outfit. Take a nap. Binge watch you favorite show. Make a date with a friend or your boo. Figure out your treat and make it happen.
3. Plan Go To Outfits
There are a lot of in-person events to attend. You don’t need more things to worry about. Pull a few basic outfits together in your closet and flag them for those school functions that require you to wear your Mom hat. Personally, I love a cute dress. It’s a one and done outfit. What’s your Mom Uniform?
4. Create a Mom Bag
Make a bag that’s just for you. Read this blog post for Mom Bag inspiration.
5. Create Playlists
Music is life. Music is a mood lifter. Music is good for the soul. Create 2 playlists, one for the children and one for you. Create a playlist with your children’s favorite jams for all the school car rides. Take a few minutes to make the playlist with them.
Music is a great way to blast the children off for the day!
Create a playlist for yourself. Be intentional with the songs you select. What do you want to hear when you are alone in the car? What songs give you a quick pick me up?
Don’t have a playlist yet? Feel free to use mine!
6. Create a School Binder
There are so many calendars, schedules, and passwords to keep up these days. Do yourself a favor and take the time to create a school binder. Click here to learn how to make a school binder and why you need to make one.

Once the binder is complete. Write all the school and work dates in all the places.
Now that you have all the school things in one place it should be very easy to write or input all the dates into all of the calendars.
This is my favorite binder. It’s so durable!
7. Morning Routine
How you start is how you finish!
I know everyone says this but it really is true!
Mommy needs a morning routine. A morning routine is not one more thing to do, but one thing for you to look forward to. A simple morning routine can set the tone for your entire day.
I have a morning routine and it is pretty simple. It works every time! Read more about it here.
You are the leader of your pack Mommy!
If you start off the day frazzled, they will too. If you start off the day rushing and fussing, they will too. Find a simple morning routine that brings you peace and joy and you will instantly increase your chances of surviving the back to school season.
This is the Happy Light I use on dreary days.
8. Water Cup
Life is hectic, stay hydrated.
Round up or purchase a water cup you love and fill her up!
I am not ashamed to admit that I am officially obsessed with the Stanley Cup my sister bought me. I hit my water goals and my water stays the temperature I want.
There are so many cute straw cups and water bottles out there. I’m pretty sure you have a lot of them already in your own cabinet. Can you imagine how hydrated you would be if you gave yourself 1/10 of reminders you give the children? Yeah girl, drink up.
