Since launching the book, Granny Angel Butterfly: Butterflies Are Forever, everyone wants to know what in the world is lumbi? So I asked my sister, who created this lumbi love goodness, to share. Without further adeiu, Lumbi (pronounced Lum-bee) as defined by Heather:
What does Lumbi really mean? This is what my 11-year-old finally asked one night, after she’d heard me say it on more than a few occasions when tucking everyone into bed. I think she had a general idea but she wanted to hear the actual definition. Hmm . . . how do I explain something so simple to an inquisitive 11 year old? How do I really put it in words? I explained that it all began when I was about 7 or 8 years old and my mom and sister came into my bedroom to tuck me in one night. Now normally this was a long process of “No I love you more! I love you a gazillion trillion million! I love you so so so much!” And on and on until it was several minutes past my bedtime. So we took a few extra minutes this one particular night, and, the three of us decided on a word that meant all of that. A word that was greater than infinity and beyond. The perfect word in our opinion that meant the magnitude of unlimited, indescribable love we had for each other: Lumbi! One simple word that summed it all up. Now here I am, almost 25 years later saying it to my children. The most special part is that they say it to me now every single day and know exactly what it means! Their Granny would be so tickled.
