There are 3 simple things I need to start my day off right- my coffee, my happy light, and some inspiration.
If you follow my Instagram stories you already know all about my morning routine, centered around my coffee, a seemingly ordinary light, and Jesus.
Coffee
My morning coffee is the most precious, wonderful time of my day. It’s warm. It’s cozy. It’s dependable. Sometimes my coffee time is peaceful. I’m currently drinking Nespresso with a generous jigger of Silk Almond Creamer (Sweet & Creamy Flavor). I just love my coffeeeeeeeee!
Inspiration
The most important piece of my morning routine is connecting with God. This centers all my thoughts and grounds me. The practice of prayer and gratitude makes me a better woman. My morning inspiration is either a Bible scripture and/or gospel music. I use the Bible App on my phone to read a daily scripture. I try to reflect on the word and its meaning in my life. I also use a daily devotional.
Daylight Lamp
I’m a Michigander. The days get short and it’s very dark for months. In the winter, I’m dragging so badly. I decided to try something new to give me a little pick up. Although I’m not diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder, I definitely lacked energy when the seasons changed. I’m a Leo, give me all the sun! So I purchased a Happy Light. (This is the one I have.)
I bought one for myself and one for the hubs. Hubs took his to work for his desk. I placed mine next to the chair I sit in to have my coffee, and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s subtle. But I do feel more awake when I use it. I need 15-20 minutes to really feel it, which lines up perfectly with the amount of time I need for my coffee and inspiration time.
